TED: Ideas Worth Spreading

TED is nonprofit which is dedicated to sharing innovative ideas. According to TED, "It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer -- TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize" (2012).

At the beginning of the year TED announced a new venture for educators -- TED Ed. It "allows users to take any useful educational video, not just TED's, and easily create a customized lesson around the video" (2012). Amy Erin Borovoy, a video programming producer and curator with Edutopia, wrote an interesting piece about this online community and created a companion playlist on YouTube. The playlist highlights twelve of the best education videos available through TED! Or, you can watch the three minute tour of TED Ed below.
