KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Keynote Address: Richard Byrne
Richard is a former high school social studies teacher who taught for eight and a half years at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in South Paris, ME. He piloted 1:1 laptop use before the program went school-wide and coordinated a "laptop squad" to support teachers' use of laptops in their classrooms. Richard’s work is focused on sharing free web-based resources that educators can use to enhance their students’ learning experiences. He has been invited to speak at events all over North America, Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Richard is a five time winner of the Edublogs Award for Best Resource Sharing Blog. He became a Google Certified Teacher in 2009 and in 2012 received a Merlot Classics award from the chancellor’s office of California State University. In 2010 he was a finalist for ACTEM’s (Association of Computer Teachers and Educators in Maine) educator of the year award. Tech & Learning Magazine named him one of their “people to watch” in their 100@30 30th Anniversary celebration. On a daily basis his blog, Free Technology for Teachers, reaches a subscriber base of more than 60,000 educators. |
Jillian Lynch
Blessed Sacrament School
Jillian is a middle school teacher at Blessed Sacrament School in Walpole, MA. She teaches sixth, seventh, and eighth grade social studies. Jillian grew up in Walpole, Massachusetts, and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in history at Saint Anselm College. After, she earned her Master's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Jillian has been teaching at the Blessed Sacrament School for three years and loves to integrate technology into her classroom. She also enjoys integrating technology into several school clubs including the civics club, book club, and student council. In her spare time, Jillian loves to read and try new restaurants with her husband.
John Mullen

John is currently serving as the Director of Technology at Blessed Sacrament School in Walpole, MA. John also teaches technology courses at the school. John is entering his second year at the Blessed Sacrament School this fall, after serving for two years as a teacher in the Computer Science department at St. John's High School in Shrewsbury. John earned his Bachelor's degree in History at Assumption College. He is passionate about education technology, loves sports, and lives in Shrewsbury.

Margaret Cohen
Lynch School of Education at Boston College Margaret is the Head Librarian of the Educational Resource Center (ERC), a K-12 curriculum library at Boston College. Margaret has been an advocate for the use of technology in education and supports undergraduate and graduate students at Boston College by providing and assisting with a range of educational technology. Margaret also serves on the Lynch School of Education Committee on Technology. In addition to |
managing the ERC, Margaret teaches Survey of Children’s Literature in the Lynch School of Education. Within the University Libraries, Margaret has directed library instruction and led the development of a comprehensive instructional program for the Libraries. Moreover, she was a leader in developing and implementing a campus-wide online Academic Integrity tutorial for all undergraduate students at Boston College. The tutorial fosters a common understanding of integrity across the disciplines and makes it a visible, immediate part of the new BC student’s experience.
