Advance Work: Preparing for the Conference

To prepare for this upcoming work, you are asked to download a selected set of iPad apps. Over the course of the two-day professional development conference you will be engaged in hands-on, interactive sessions with teacher leaders and technology specialists. To make the most of your time during these sessions, it will be helpful to download these tools in advance. While most of the highlighted apps are free, please use the gift card provided by the Catholic Schools Foundation to purchase the fee-based applications.




Photon
Photon is a browser for the iPad that enables you to view sites with Flash. It is $4.99 for the app.



Prezi
This free app allows you to view Prezi presentations. You will use this tool throughout the conference and be introduced to it in the session on Digital Storytelling.

Edmodo is a free tool for teachers and students to share information and stay connected. 
iMovie
iMovie is a nifty little app, which costs $4.99, and allows you to create professional movies on the iPad.

The free Google search application for the iPad.

Fotobabble is a free app that enables you to create and share talking photos.
Dragon Dictation
Dragon Dictation is a free app that recognizes your voice and converts speech into text.

VoiceThread
With VoiceThread (free) you can talk, type and draw on your screen. 
Scribble Press
Scribble Press is a free story creation app for the iPad.
ShowMe
Turn your iPad into an interactive Whiteboard with the ShowMe app.
Puppet Pals
Puppet Pals is a free tool that enables you to create animated shows.
