We will showcase two different tools, Prezi and Animoto, which you can use to frame an idea or to share examples of student work. Prezi is unique tool that enables to create sophisticated presentations and to embed images, videos and links. Animoto, on the other hand, enables you create 30-second videos composed of text, images and music.
Prezi: Make Your Presentations Zoom
Prezi is a "cloud-based presentation software that opens up a new world between whiteboards and slides. The zoomable canvas makes it fun to explore ideas and the connections between them. The result: visually captivating presentations that lead your audience down a path of discovery" (2012). In addition, Prezi enables up to ten people to simultaneously work on the same presentation. When your presentation is finished, it can shared through a link.

As an educator, you are eligible for a free Edu Enjoy account. It entitles you to 500 MB of storage and additional privacy. Your presentations can either be viewable to the greater public or remain private. You can also upgrade to a Edu Pro account which gives you more storage (2 GB) and the ability to edit presentations offline.

Liturgical Calendar: Teacher-Generated Presentation
As part of the religion curricula, students are expected to understand the liturgical calendar. Here is an example, created by Shelly, that is designed to address the liturgical calendar and to provide students with an overview of the seasons. It is a great way to introduce the topic and to prepare for deeper reflection and writing in the classroom.

Matt Himes, a fourth grade teacher at St. Columbkille Partnership School used Prezi in an after-school program, the photography club. In this particular project, Matt was teaching middle school students about the concepts of light and shadow. Student were charged with capturing the interplay of light and shadows and showing their work through Prezi. Here are two students' examples: Emily's Light and Shadow and Nestoras' Hope.

PreziU: Inspirational Education Community
Interested in exploring how other K-12 teachers have used Prezi classroom? Join PreziU and search through the growing collection of online presentations. According to the company, "PreziU offers more than just content to consume: you can share your best prezis, ask for feedback, submit your best practices and experience reports as articles and join discussions about Prezi using the forum" (2012). As this forum was recently established, it is actively growing and becoming more of a resource for educators. Animoto: Create Stunning Videos
Animoto promotes itself as a tool that "automatically produces beautifully orchestrated, completely unique video pieces from your photos, video clips and music. Fast, free and shockingly easy" (2010). You can view the Video Showcase which highlights examples from users around the world. You can use the free editor to create an unlimited number of 30 second videos. If you enjoy using the tool, you can register for an Education account which upgrades you to an Animoto Plus account for six months.

Above, you viewed a Prezi on the liturgical calendar which provided students with an overview of each season. Here, we used the same information to generate an example in Animoto.
Animoto Tutorial: Step-by-Step Guide
New to Animoto? In less than a minute, you can learn how to create an account, navigate the dashboard and create a professional video. It is a great teaching tool that you can also share with your students. You can insert images from different sources in the cloud (e.g., Picassa, Photobucket, etc.), upload pictures from your computer, or choose from a range of options available through Animoto. Once the finished video is complete, it can be viewed online or embedded in blog, website or on TeacherTube.
Animoto in Education: Examples from the Classroom
You can learn a great deal about this tool by watching videos generated by both teachers and students. Below are two examples created with Animoto. The first video was published by an eighth grade mathematics teachers to highlight student artwork on M.C. Escher. The second piece was created by a student and focuses on figurative language.
