Welcome to the Summer Technology Academy
Dear Catholic Elementary Teachers,
On behalf of the Catholic Schools Foundation, we welcome you to our second annual Summer Technology Academy. When we held our first Academy last year, we hoped it would be the start of an annual dialogue about Catholic schools and the 21st century learner. We have been thrilled to see the results from just one year, with 100% of schools using new topics or tools they learned at the 2012 Academy. You will meet several of the teachers from these schools over the next two days, and will be able to see a showcase of the lesson plans they developed. Many had never even held an iPad before the Academy, so please know you need not be a technology expert to get the most out of your time here.
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, has said, “In terms of doing work and in terms of learning and evolving as a person, you just grow more when you get more people's perspectives.” We expect the Academy will allow all of you to exchange ideas and perspectives that will help you grow as teachers and ultimately impact the true heart of Catholic education: your students.
I wish you all the best and hope you have a productive and enjoyable time at the Academy.
Sincerely,
Mike
